Summary of Practice

Catherine was a solicitor in private practice for a number of years and prior to qualifying worked for a leading commercial law firm in Sydney, Australia.  The subject matter of her work as a solicitor was diverse and whilst she continues to deal with a wide range of areas, she has a particular interest in personal injury and negligence, commercial and criminal work.

Catherine's appearances range from the Sheriff Courts to the High Court (First Instance and Appellate) and the Court of Session (Inner and Outer House).  Catherine appeared in the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in 2008 in the cases addressing the issue of Crown disclosure of evidence.

She has also been involved in work promoting the rule of law and human rights in developing democracies for a number of years.  This has included participating in international conferences and working with foreign legislatures, particularly in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
