Summary of Practice

John has been instructed in a wide range of subject matter during his career at the Bar.  He returned to private practice after serving as an Advocate Depute and Ad Hoc Advocate Depute between May 2003 and May 2007.  He has been regularly instructed in cases in all of the areas identified as areas of interest but is probably best known for his expertise in family law and, in particular, in all areas of law relating to, and affecting, children.  He has appeared before various bodies exercising decision making functions and has experience in the conduct of Fatal Accident Inquiries.  In May 2010 he was appointed a Part-time Sheriff by the Scottish Ministers.
