Appearance work includes Sheriff Court, Court of Session (Inner and Outer House), High Court of Justiciary (Crown Prosecutions as ad hoc Advocate Depute; defence in health and safety prosecutions), the House of Lords and various tribunals and inquiries.
Areas of work most frequently covered are: personal injuries claims; professional negligence (solicitors, surveyors and clinical); judicial review in respect of statutory tribunals and regulatory bodies (such as the Department of Health’s licensing functions); various commercial matters; disciplinary tribunals in the context of the NHS Tribunal.
Other areas of work include: planning matters (with two major successful inquiries into scheduled ancient monument consent); defence in health and safety prosecution.
